65-68 I believe will interchange, as will 69-73 (not sure) 3 speed pedals, since there were no 4 speed C bodies made.

Yup as Ross has stated, the 65-68 3/4 speed pedals will intechange, as well as the 3 speed pedals in the Fusey car, 69-73-ish.
Now the only other consideration you need to think about is that on the C-bodies, at least the 65-68, there were different pedal configurations. If the donor car is originaly a manual brake car it will not work on your power brake C-body. This also applies the other way as well, power brake set-up won't work on a manual brake car. I have pics of both set-up if you need a refrence.

The easy way to tell a manual from a power pedal is......
The power pedal will have a longer distance from the pivot to pushrod, something like 5". The manual pedal will have a shorter diatance from pivot to pushrod, more like 1.5" Different pedal ratios for manual & power, 3:1 for power & around 6-7 for a manual. Take not of the two pedals above & you can see the difference. Butch |

Can you tell me if these pedals are manual or power please?
It seems that Butch's description on how to tell the difference is opposite to Brian's description of his pics. The pics I'm showing look a lot like Brian's pics that he says are power, but have the short pivot to pushrod length that Butch asserts are manual.... Which are they please?

Ross, those look like a manual pedal to me.
Here's how to measure..... http://www.hotrodheaven.com/tech/brakes/brakes6.htm I went thru this with my 70 in converting to manual brakes. I had a power pedal with a 3:1 ratio & it wouldn't stop worth a darn. Read that site & did some measuring, found out what I had & compared to a friends 69 Fury with manual & found they had 2 different pivot points in the underdash support. the higher pivot is for power & the lower ( 3.25" lower ) is for a manual pedal. I shortened my pedal the 3.25" so it's about 1.5 pivot to pushrod now & about 12" oeverall & have over a 6:1 ratio & it makes all the difference. Do the measurements to be certain. Butch |

Thanks Butch, I thought so.
I am in complete understanding of the "mechanics" of the ratio difference between manual and power pedals, the power pedal needing less leverage force (hence the shorter lever before the "fulcrum" (push rod) and longer after the fulcrum than the manual pedal. It's just that with those pics I put up, I couldn't see the difference very well. It sure looked like to me that the pedals were the manual set though, since I could see the pivot point was close to the fulcrum, (pushrod), and thereby made the lever the longer one. Too bad, that was for a set of pedals I was going to buy if they were the power ones. Brian, in your pictures it looks like the pedal dressup was swapped around from the power to the manual units between photos.... The first pic shows the pedal dress up on the power pedals, and then the power pedals show up without them. At least that's how it looks to me... am I screwing up here?

Thanks for pointing that out Ross!! I had not noticed that before, but you are correct. I just saw the pic of the set on the booster and noticed that they
were without a dress up package and just assumed the other pic was of the same sets.....DOOOHH
So to make things clear on the pics I posted up. The first pic with the two sets side by side the set on the left is a manual brake set-up and the set on the right is a power brake set-up. Then the second pic is of a power brake set-up on a bendix brake booster. And finally the third pic is of a power brake set-up as well. So yes it does appear that the set you were looking at were for a manual brake system.....Now I have to go out and check my set again to make sure they are from a power brake car.

V 194 wrote:Well I've watched a few sets on e-bay recently and I saw them sell from $75-$200 just depending on who's wanting a set at the time. I lucked out and picked up my set up at a swap meet years ago. I was leaving and was doing a last quick check as I was walking out, spotted a complete set-up, pedals, rods, Z-bar and tunnel....asked who owned them, guy in the next booth said a buddy of his....I asked how much, guy didn't know but said make him and offer...I had $50 in my pocket so I offered him that...SOLD!!

Well I finally dug out my set-up after my last post...I had thought they were a power brake set-up but nope they are a manual brake set-up....
Guess I'll be converting the car to manual brakes after all when I want to go 4 speed....

I always wonder about manual brakes on such heavy cars even if they are converted to disc.
