It's dependent upon the settings of the kick-down linkage from the carb to the trans, and your rear gear. Make sure the kickdown linkage is set to factory
specs, or you'll possibly toast your trans in short order.
When everything is set correctly, the trans should shift from 1 to 2 in normal acceleration at roughly 15-20 mph or so, and into 3rd at about 25 mph or so. At full throttle, depending on the gearing, it should shift out of 1st roughly at 40mph and into 3rd at about 70 mph. With longer gears, the mph points are higher. The trans can be adjusted to shift at higher points by turning up the line pressure. I don't know how to tell you to do that, but a trans shop I had the green Monaco's trans rebuilt at did it, and it shifts higher quite a bit, and also a lot firmer. If you want performance shifts, there are a lot of things you can do. If you want smooth almost un-noticeable shifts, the factory specs are pretty good. Follow the service manual for this to the letter, or like I said before, you can ruin your trans.

My trans was shifting at the points your mentioned but the kickdown wasn't engaging. I attempted to adjust the throttle/kickdown linkage per the FSM but I
think I must have done something wrong. The adjustable ball crank on the trans linkage was near the tip of the threaded rod when I brought it to the desired
heigt described in the FSM. The adjustable tip was actually wobbling. Needless to say I went for a ride and the shift points were much higher and very firm.
It almost felt like the trans was low on fluid buit it wasn't. I returned the trans linkages back to where I had them and it shifts very smooth and at the
proper speeds but the kickdown isn't engaging. Any ideas?

I would have to defer to someone with more experience in this one. Sorry!
It sounds like something simple though.

Sounds like you need a longer adjustment rod...or maybe the fitting on your trans got swapped out for a different one. I know from experience that there are
several different kickdown/gear selector shaft brackets that bolt onto the tranny and they have different angles and bends depending on what system your
running..ie: console, column or even the particular year.
When I needed a 3 piece kick down for my wagon I actually got a complete set-up off a 62 413...works great but I had to change out the fitting off the tranny gear selector/kick down shaft to get things to work. I personally have a big box of misc big and small block kick down hardware that I have amassed over the years and I frequently have to dip into it to get things right.

In my 65 Service manual, the shift points are on page 21-48. I am traveling right now and can't post a pic. I could post it this weekend if you can't
find it in your manual. It is a chart called "Shift Pattern Summary".
