Rumours are hot and heavy from various un-named sources regarding the future plans for the Chrysler Group platforms. Some posted information is frankly very discouraging. I will look with anticipation that the latest steward of Chrysler Corporation will treat it's legacy with respect. Even if it does not, I will still support the brand with only thing that I can, my wallet. Hopefully, tomorrow does not end with old Walter Percy turning over in his grave. While some of the rumours were rather disappointing, the 5 hour presentation this afternoon still will significantly change the Chrysler we know of today. It is a good thing ? Well Daimler injected a lot of their DNA during the 10 year "merger" and FIAT as the new Owner will inject a lot more than Daimler ever did. Some core brands will remain North American designed and built, but the bread and butter vehicles will be FIAT under the skin. Heck, in 2013 my new Jeep Patriot will be a Fix-It-Again-Tony based unit, along with many more. I dunno, as I noted in an earlier post, i'll still support the company tho. I just saw a video of the new 2009 California Ferrari and it has the same NAV system and the Chrysler mini-van go figure. They're talking about adding a diesel to the Wrangler which might be interesting.
